Why You Already Broke Your New Year’s Resolution—and How to Bounce Back 🎯✨

Welcome back, and cheers to building in 2025.

Thank you to everyone for following and sharing this journey with me.

Fam—this community keeps growing!

As of today, we’ve crossed 5,330 followers on X. Are we connected yet? If not, let's fix that: Let’s be friends. Every follow feels like another step forward, and I appreciate each and every one of you for being part of this journey.

Our newsletter community has over 1030 subscribers, and more excitingly, 151 people have already started or been approved for the WIOA grant! My goal is to help 1,000 individuals across different states get access to this life-changing funding—and at this rate, it won’t be a secret for long!

Help me reach 1,000 by the end of this year! Also, please consider clicking on the AD, as it helps support this newsletter.

We’re just 11 days into the new year, and here’s the truth: A staggering 85% of people have already let go of their New Year’s resolutions. 😮 Maybe you’ve skipped the gym, abandoned your journal, or dipped into old habits you swore to leave behind. Sound familiar? You’re not alone.

But here’s the good news: It’s not too late to turn things around.

Why Resolutions Fail

  1. Too Vague or Unrealistic Goals
“I’ll eat healthy” or “I’ll start a business” sounds great but lacks clarity. Studies show that people who set specific, measurable goals are 10x more likely to succeed.

  2. No Action Plan
Resolutions without a roadmap are just wishes. Without actionable steps, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and quit.

  3. All-or-Nothing Thinking
Missing one workout, skipping a day of work on your business plan, or hitting a roadblock doesn’t mean you’ve failed. Yet many people abandon their goals completely after one slip-up.

  4. No Accountability
According to a study by the American Society of Training and Development, having accountability increases your chance of success by 95%! front of you. You don’t need to be a genius to do this, just committed. If I had to start over, I wouldn’t hesitate. I’d follow these exact steps and build even faster.

How to Get Back on Track 🚀

Let’s turn this into your comeback story:

  1. Break It Down 📝
Big goals are overwhelming. Instead of saying, “I’ll start a business,” say, “I’ll spend 30 minutes researching funding options today,” or “I’ll write a one-page business plan this week.” Small, consistent steps build momentum.

  2. Rewrite Your WHY 💡
Why did you make this resolution? Is it to create financial freedom, be your own boss, or help your community? If your goal involves starting a trade school or getting WIOA grant funding, remind yourself of the impact you’ll have on students’ lives.

  3. Leverage Available Resources 💰
Did you know that the WIOA grant provides millions in funding every year to support workforce development? States receive between $50M and $100M annually to train workers for in-demand fields like HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.

If you’re thinking about starting a business? There are grants and unique resources you can leverage.

  4. Embrace Imperfection 🌊
Progress isn’t linear. If you missed a day working toward your business goals, pick up where you left off. One bad day doesn’t define a bad week.

  5. Find a Community 🤝
Surround yourself with like-minded individuals. Whether it’s a mentor, a networking group, or other business owners, accountability is key.

  6. Celebrate Small Wins 🎉
Every step forward matters. Did you file your LLC, research grants, or enroll in a course to improve your skills? Celebrate that progress!

Why Starting a Business Is the Best Resolution You Can Make

Starting your own business doesn’t just build your bank account—it builds your confidence, freedom, and legacy.

If your goal is to create something meaningful this year, remember this:

    • Over 5.04 million new businesses were started in 2022 alone. Source.

    • Small business owners create 64% of new jobs in the U.S. Source.

    • People who take the leap into entrepreneurship report higher levels of fulfillment and happiness.

    Your Challenge for Today

Whether you’ve broken your resolutions or feel stuck, take one small step today:

    • Want to start a business? Research LLCs or funding options like the WIOA grant.

    • Thinking about a career pivot? Explore certifications in high-demand trades like HVAC or plumbing.

    • Feeling overwhelmed? Write down your top three priorities for the week and tackle just one.

🌟 Let 2024 be the year you don’t just set goals—you achieve them.

Until next time, control what YOU can control, take action on something, and don’t forget to smile.
